The 12th Annual Sarasota Film Festival kicked off tonight and I thought the red carpet was a little lackluster. Actor Kevin Kline, who stars in The Extra Man, which was the event’s opening night film, walked the carpet, arriving in a huge Rolls-Royce around 6:45 p.m., 15 minutes before the screening. Directors, Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini – the wife-and-husband team whose credits include American Splendor, walked the red carpet, too, but I didn’t catch a decent shot of the couple.
Don’t get me wrong. These are big names but a few more celebs would’ve been nice. But, my friend VB and I had fun checking out the threads Sarasota socialites were wearing. (This being her first time “stalking” the red carpet, she also had fun waving during television media shots. I swear, it was not my intention to end up in the background of ANY video shots. I swear!)
Was there a specific fashion theme tonight? Perhaps anything that glimmers. Below are a few fashion-type shots and here’s a caveat: I’m by far a fashionista. Additional photos can be viewed on my Flickr account.
I’ll be back in Sarasota next week for more Sarasota Film Festival events.
Is that scrawny little guy in the background security?
I think so – he was riding shotgun in the Rolls-Royce.
