Ahhhh…Axe Throwing is Stress Relief.

Hurling a dangerously sharp hatchet at a target where wood splinters off is a bit exhilarating, liberating, and simply exciting. Axe throwing, the act of throwing a hatchet, aka axe, at a target dates back centuries. But, axe throwing venues, where you pay to toss an axe, first opened in 2011 in Canada. Axe throwing venues are popping up across the U.S. and Florida and now, North Port has The Axe Haus!

Hitting the Target of My Goals at The Axe Haus

In 2020, one of my #20in20 goals is to throw a bullseye with an axe and guess what? That goals has been accomplished!

It’s February and I’ve been axe throwing at The Axe Haus twice this year and love it! I first went in January and met up with fellow members of the Florida Outdoor Writers Association. My second visit, was tied to a Girls’ Night with a friend from my national park days who I don’t get to see often enough. Axe throwing is not as easy as it looks. At least, not for me. I’ve seen friends pick up a hatchet, hurl it, and hit the bullseye on the first try.

Kevin Rouse is the man behind the venue. If you do not know how to properly throw a hatchet at the wood target, one of the station officers will patiently show you how.
