No matter where the road leads you this summer, pack along these groovy Light Blue Cat Eye Bifocal Reading Sunglasses by ICU Eyewear. Aren’t they retro-fab?

ICU Eyewear asked if I would give these sunglasses a try as well as a pair of their Orange Oval Floral Pattern Readers, then share my honest opinions about them.

Another Phase of Adulthood – the Eyes Go
Friends warned me when I turned 40 my vision would deteriorate. They said print in books, magazines and newspapers would appear smaller and I’d need more brightness in rooms. Well, call me a late bloomer because when I turned 42 a couple of years ago, the vision change happened. It wasn’t until a year ago I gave in and talked to my ophthalmologist – because carrying around a Sherlock Holmes-type magnifying glass wasn’t practical – who suggested reading glasses (aka readers) or adjusting my contact lens prescription.

Choosing the latter, my vision improved but not 100 percent. Tired of holding my iPhone, magazines and other items at arm’s length while squinting in order to guess what I was reading, I ended up picking up my first pair of readers.

Being a Florida gal, sunglasses are one of my best friends, next to SPF 30 sunscreen and Havaianas flip-flops. In addition to being shade for my eyes, sunglasses act as a headband to keep my hair back! After graduating to a new level of adulthood, I soon discovered I couldn’t read anything when wearing my sunglasses and needed to switch between sunglasses and readers.

Why Light Blue Cat Eye Bifocal Reading Sunglasses?
This is where the Light Blue Cat Eye Bifocal Reading Sunglasses by ICU Eyewear come in. Not only are they fun, fashionable and fierce, they’re functional! As you can see, the cat eye frames around the lenses are a dark tortoise shell color accented with the a light blue (teal) colored temples.

I’ve worn them for the past two weeks and have been able to read brochures and books out in the sunshine, read maps, my GPS and iPhone while in the car (not driving!) and navigate through Florida’s rain with ease without switching eyewear. Why mention the rain? Because these adorable bifocal reading sunglasses are polarized! And, they’re also 100% UV A and B ray protective.

I typically wear polarized sunglasses because it cuts the glare when driving through rain and when out on the water to see better what’s underneath. I suppose it’s the closest thing to having Superman’s X-ray vision.

Best of all, these cat-eye frames are $25.95 and perfect for that summer vacation.

Why Orange Oval Floral Pattern Readers?
Ever notice how people give you weird looks when wearing sunglasses indoors? Reading indoors with these bifocal sunglasses has been a breeze, but, not always practical, especially in business settings. I was also given a pair of adorable Orange Oval Floral Pattern Readers to try, too.

I’m crazy about floral prints and these oval frames have a sweet pattern in a vibrant color, perfect for making a summer fashion statement. It even came with a matching sleeve to store them when not using. They’re $23.99 which is a little more than what I typically pay for readers.

What I Like About the Light Blue Cat Eye Lifted Bifocal Reading Sunglasses

  • Fashionable. Just wearing them I feel stylish. Plus, I’ve received tons of compliments.
  • Lenses are a bit oversized to offer protection from the sun.
  • Polarized and 100% UVA and UVB protective – have to protect my eyes from harmful rays!
  • Fun and affordable. I’ve paid at least twice as much for polarized sunglasses, at $25.95, these are a fantastic investment.

What I Didn’t Like About Light Blue Cat Eye Lifted Bifocal Reading Sunglasses

  • It was my first time wearing bifocals, so adjusting to keeping my eyes up for distances and down for reading was a small learning curve.
