Have you heard? Solo Travel Girl was in the news in Feb. 2016! Working in public relations, you’d think it would be easy for me to drum up publicity, but honestly, promoting myself is one of the most difficult things to do. Yesterday, I had the honor of meeting Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts as part of the Ringling College Library Association Town Hall Lecture series in Sarasota, Fla. If you’re wondering if she’s as nice in person as she is on television, the answer is yes. She’s about as nice, authentic and humble as you can get.
Ms. Roberts worked hard for her success but acknowledged she had the support of several people to help her to get to where she is. She told a group of high school students to find people who will help you and remember that “delays are not denials,” meaning, be appreciative of all experiences because they’ll help you get to where you are supposed to be.

I really needed to hear this because as you recall, I’ve been feeling stuck in life lately. I’ve worked hard to where I am but like Ms. Roberts, I’ve had people who believed in me and helped me along the way. Best of all, I know these people still stand by my side. Although I’m feeling as though I’m treading water, I can feel something else beginning to happen.
To that extent, here are three articles published in February of this year that included Solo Travel Girl. I’m extremely humbled for the acknowledgements.

“20 Baby Boomer Travel Bloggers Having More Fun than Millennials“, TripAdvisor Vacation Rentals Blog, Feb. 19, 2016
“SoloTravelGirl.com Blog Empowers Women Who Travel Alone,” Florida Weekly (Charlotte County, Fla.), Feb. 25, 2016
“Here’s Traveler’s Handy Secret Weapon,” Herald & Review (Decatur, Illis.) , Feb. 25, 2016
And, SoloTravelGirl.com was one of three Florida-based travel blogs in the running for Best Travel/Theme Park/Destination Blog in the Sunshine Blog Awards. I didn’t win but hey, I was honored to be in the top three in the state!
As always, thank you for being here!
Congratulations on your wonderful news coverage. Although the women’s travel market is huge, most newspapers are not that interested. They cover ‘girls getaways’ when as you know the bigger market is Boomer women or close to. Hope to work with you on an article one day.
