Seeking Warmth at a Daytona Beach Hotel, Dec. 7, 2010
If you’ve been keeping up with the news, you know Florida is receiving a blast of cold air this week resulting in freezing temperatures. No, I’m not complaining. Earlier this year I vowed never to complain about cold fronts because I was so miserable with the hot and humid summer. Daytona Beach this morning was 20-something. Fahrenheit. Brrr!
Thankfully, the hotel I’m staying has a warm and cozy option – campfires behind the hotel. Those babies were pumping out the heat tonight although sitting on the wooden chairs was a bit chilly.

Driving through Western Pennsylvania’s rolling farmland, I held back tears thinking of the afternoon’s destination, the Flight 93 National Memorial. Almost 20 years later, the thoughts of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, still trigger deep emotions.
