Fresh Fish, Sweet Watermelon and a Flash Mob at the Punta Gorda Farmer’s Market, June 18, 2011

This is the first Saturday in a while I was home so I wandered down to the Punta Gorda Farmer’s Market (Florida) to see what was new. Boy, was it hot! I knew something special was going to happen and could see the crowd sitting on the steps on the courthouse and cameras set up. […]

Sprinkling of Seaweed, Splash of Miso and Dash of Wasabi. Munching on a Japadog in Vancouver

“Every time I’m downtown I stop in and get one,” the young twenty-something woman told me. She had a small silver nose ring indicating she was cool and trendy. If she was eating one I knew it was the hip thing to do. “They’re so good!” The “one” she was referring is a Japadog, a […]

Wordless Wednesday: Little Stormy Weather in Western New York

It produced lightning, thunder, rain and a little breeze. (Didn’t see any flying cows, thankfully.) Luckily, […]

Should I Be Concerned Someone with My Name Now Has My Hotel and Airline Frequent Traveler Numbers?

“There are 17 of you,” the general manager of a Hilton Garden Inn said in the message he left on my voicemail. He was referring to the quantity of Hilton HHonors members with the name “Jennifer Huber.” About two weeks ago, I received an email from a specific Hilton Garden Inn in North Carolina thanking […]

Food, Glorious Buffalo Food

My carry-on luggage yesterday included a packet of Sahlen’s hot dogs and rhubarb from my parent’s garden. My checked luggage included a couple bottles of former Buffalo Bills’ wide receiver Andre Reed’s all purpose sauce called “Over the Middle,” and my mom’s homemade corn relish and raspberry jam.
