Consider Staying at Chelsea House During a Key West Vacation

Friends and family often ask me for recommendations on what to do and where to stay in South Florida. I have one answer when asked, “Where should I stay in Key West?” My response is always Historic Key West Inns, a collection of five inns in the heart of Old Town Key West.

Of the five inns, I have personally stayed at Merlin Guest House and Key Lime Inn. Friends recently stayed at Albury Court and they absolutely loved it! The other two inns are Chelsea House and Lighthouse Court

Romantic Key West Weekend at Albury Court

Friends who stayed at Albury Court were celebrating a weekend getaway without the kids and appreciated the inn’s romantic feel and close proximity to the action of Duval Street.  They took the Key West Express, the passenger ferry from Fort Myers to Key West, and said it’s the best way to go because they didn’t have to worry about driving, parking and the ferry dropped them off relatively close to the inn. Key West is an extremely walkable city.

I haven’t taken the Key West Express yet because I don’t mind the gorgeous drive down U.S. 1 especially the views of green-blue water. It’s a nice drive as long as there isn’t a car wreck or event to back up traffic.

Key West Girlfriend Getaway at Key Lime Inn

Key Lime Inn was terrific for a Florida Keys girlfriend getaway with my sister a few years ago. It was her first visit to Key West and we walked everywhere including the Southernmost Point, Hemingway’s Home, Mallory Square and took in Hemingway Days. Importantly, the inn was close to Duval Street’s nightlife.

Location, Location, Location

The reason I recommend Historic Key West Inns is close proximity to the activities that make Key West distinct. Rooms are clean and staff are welcoming. Continental breakfast is served each morning and the swimming pool at Key Lime Inn, shared with Chelsea House, is fantastically refreshing. The inns I’ve stayed have a bed and breakfast feel yet allow me to be independent. The inns are competitively priced by season and event.

Consider Historic Key West Inns when planning a vacation to the Keys because everyone is welcomed.
