Monograms Independent Travel Simplified

My tentative big trip for 2011 will be a week in Alaska. While some people enjoy travel planning, sometimes I don’t have time for it. For these trips, I leave the planning to a travel agent or other travel supplier which is where my new friends with Monograms come into play. In exchange for supporting my travel habit, I’m writing this review about vacation planning with Monograms

Review of Monograms Travel Planning

Monograms is part of the Globus family of brands, a solid leader in travel planning for groups and individuals. During my 20-some years in the tourism industry, I’ve worked with group tours organized by Globus and can attest group planners and leaders were always organized and sought the best for their clients. Monograms, is made for independent travelers who don’t want to travel with a group but like at least a little bit of structure in their vacation.

The Monograms website is pretty cool, easy to navigate and definitely simplifies travel planning for independent travelers. I took a look at Alaska and Italy itineraries (although Monograms offers itineraries across the globe) and these go beyond staying in a hotel and traveling to your next destination. Most itineraries I found include added value services as guided tours and tips on alternative things to do. For instance, in an Alaska itinerary, it offers options between driving from Anchorage to Valdez or taking a car ferry.

Local Hosts Share Travel Tips

What I really love about Monograms are the Local Hosts in destination cities. Not only can you read their suggested must-see and do activities but once in the destination, these Local Hosts meet with travelers to offer travel tips. Most hosts are natives who really know the destination. Let me tell ya, having access to a Local Host during my trip to Italy a couple of years of ago would have really enhanced the trip, especially in finding places to eat. Access to Local Hosts is like being a VIP with your own private concierge without overpaying for it.

Customize Your Monograms Travel Itinerary

Vacation itineraries can be customized to include additional excursions, activities and upgraded hotel stays. You can fill it up or tone it down, just depends on the type of vacation you want to experience. Monograms makes vacation planning easy by providing pretty much everything needed for a vacation – hotel, activities, transportation and even airfare – but offers flexibility for a unique vacation. Itineraries also fit your vacation time ranging from quick city-breaks to multi-week adventures.
