Give the Gift of Savings with a Membership
AAA is ideal for the road warrior on your list, or anyone who drives a car for that matter. Yes, we should all know how to change a tire but it’s easier having it done for you. I have called AAA twice this year to jump start my car because of a dead battery and tow me to Walmart for a new tire. (Oops! My car came with a tire repair kit and no spare!)
In addition to roadside assistance, AAA members can enjoy discounts at some hotels, attractions and rental car agencies along with nontraditional travel businesses such as some retail shops and home and life services. Membership includes tire change, battery boost, towing service up to 5 miles free, fuel delivery and lockout service up to $50.
If your gift recipient is 50 years old or older, consider an AARP membership. It’s a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization with benefits including volunteering opportunities; discounts on dining, shopping, and travel (including traveling Cirque du Soleil shows!); health and financial insurance products; access to programs and events like AARP Driver Safety; and a subscription to “AARP The Magazine.”
Or, if they love the outdoors, give an annual membership to the state park system or if travels will take them across the country, give the America the Beautiful Annual Pass which provides access into more than 2,000 federal recreation sites. If the gift recipient is in the military, is 62 years old or older or has a permanent disability, other pass options are available.
It’s a Scarf, It’s a Purse, It’s Convenient.
If a traveling gal is on your gift list the SHOLDIT Clutch Wrap Purse may be the perfect fit. It’s a fashionable infinity scarf but also has a secret pocket to place essentials such as cash, passport, sunglasses and lip balm. It’s perfect for those events when a gal doesn’t want to carry a bag but wants her essentials. My full review of SHOLDIT can be found in this post. I also think that a watch is a great gift to receive, it’s a great gift to keep forever. I’ve seen some beautiful Hamilton watches so you could go check those out!!
Give the Gift of a Language
Know of someone planning on traveling abroad for the first time? Or maybe someone has talked about learning a second language but just hasn’t taken the steps to do it? Consider Pimsleur’s Holiday Gift Set. It consists of a 30-lesson course in any of the 50 languages available from Pimsleur (the gift recipient may choose which language) and the book “How to Learn a Foreign Language” which introduces the audio-based Pimsleur Method,™ a completely natural way to learn a language that recalls how we first learned to speak as children. Knowing a country’s native tongue certainly makes a visit more enjoyable. Read which language I’m learning in this blog post.
Time Flies and So Can Your Loved Ones
Give the gift of travel with a gift card to your gift recipient’s favorite hotel, a restaurant they want to try or attraction they want to visit. CheapOair, one of the web’s most popular travel sites to find quality, low-cost travel solutions, also has gift cards available from $25 to $1,000 with any other amount in between. Gift cards never expire and can be applied to their low rates on flights to destinations around the world.
Who’s on your holiday gift list?
Disclosure: As a travel blogger I received Pimsleur’s Holiday Gift Set complimentary in order to review the product. This post is based on my experience and opinions are my own.
