“It’s really, really hard,” I said in response to a friend telling me she didn’t know how I balance life as a single woman.
Yeah, I don’t know how I do it either but I do the best I can. At least I give the appearance I’m doing it all. And, I’ve grown accustom to doing as much as possible on my own.
The last couple of weeks have been somewhat crazy (outdoor writers conference, 13-hour days at the day job, attending the SpaceX4 NASA Social followed by Florida Blog Con yesterday) and the next three weeks will be equally hectic with a business trip to Brazil, hosting a client the following week which will probably mean a couple of 13 – 15-hour days, followed by a week-long conference.
I’m so worried something is going to fall through the cracks. Like I’ll forget to pay a bill, or miss an important email with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Or, something at the day job won’t get done. Or, I won’t have time for a social life, which I oftentimes feel is always on the back burner. I was in such a rush to pack for last week’s NASA event that something did slip through the cracks, one of the things I forgot to pack was my “big” lens.
I’m not trying to be a Negative Nellie with this post, but it’s my honest excuse for not having shared my various adventures such as rediscovering Buffalo this summer, the amazing visit to Citrus County earlier this month (view photos on Flickr), or my impressions from last week’s NASA Social and how public-private collaborations can be successful (some photos from the #NASASocial have been uploaded to Flickr.) I also have more tales to tell about Virginia and the Dominican Republic.
