From A to Z, what are the characteristics of a solo travel girl? By golly, she’s graceful, geeky and grateful!
Graceful – Grace could be her middle name because it takes a certain skill to eloquently toss one’s cookies in an airport trash can yet carry on as nothing happened. This gallivanting gal has gracefully mastered this and other tasks. She carries herself with a charming gait and knows when it’s appropriate to slurp soup, is always a lady even when navigating a kayak or canoe while wearing a skirt, and has mastered the task of eating udon noodles and grains of rice with chopsticks.
Geeky – Laptop? Check. Smartphone? Check. Notebook, a rainbow of pens and back up maps in case the original maps are lost? Check, check, check. A solo travel girl embraces her inner geek and knows the answer to the question, “Who shot first?” [sic: Star Wars reference.] As much as she can, she prepares for the unexpected. With the latest apps loaded on her smartphone, she utilizes her multiple social media channels to stay connected, navigate and discover new gems during her adventures. She also knows she can’t solely rely on technology and kicks it old school by keeping destination maps accessible.
Grateful – Having the ability to do what she loves, this fearless female is extremely grateful for the travel opportunities afforded to her. Although this STG hasn’t found a way to travel full-time, she’s content and doesn’t take for granted she has the freedom and ability to pack up and go on weekend jaunts.
Are you a solo travel girl? What other qualities beginning with the letter “G” can be attributed to a solo travel girl?
