From A to Z, what are the characteristics of a solo travel girl? Devoted, diligent and she’s doggone delightful!
Devoted – Just as Olivia Newton John sang, “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” in the movie Grease, the solo travel girl is just as devoted to her circle of family, friends and fellow traveling nomads and weekend warriors. When favors are asked she’ll bend over backward best she can (and that’s not getting easier as she ages) to support her cronies.
This solo travel girl shipped a bushel of freshly harvested New York State apples to her coworkers one year because she wanted to share these incredibly delicious gems.
She also knows she has devoted readers of this blog, which is why she launched a postcard of the month club last year to share a little bit more from the road with readers.
Diligent – Santa Claus makes a list and checks it twice but this traveling chica makes a list and checks it thrice…almost always. During her travel planning she does her best to find the best travel deal using search tools as Kayak, Travelocity and travel provider websites.
She scours group discount sites such as Groupon and LivingSocial to find restaurant and attraction deals in places she’s visiting. She also visits websites of convention and visitor bureaus (aka: CVB, or destination marketing organizations, aka: DMO; or tourist development councils, aka: TDC) for happenings, deals, sample itineraries and usually unbiased information. Before booking that hotel she quickly pops over to TripAdvisor to see what others are saying.
By no means is this gal a diligent travel ninja, sometimes things don’t go as planned but she carefully muddles by.
Delightful – Who wouldn’t want to be in the company of a solo travel girl? She’s traveled the globe picking up all sorts of niceties from Japan to Britain as well as life experiences teaching her what’s truly important. She radiates with niceness making her quite pleasant to be around.

Are you a solo travel girl? What other qualities beginning with the letter “D” can be attributed to a solo travel girl?
This post is part of the 2013 Blogging A to Z Challenge.
I am enjoying your posts and admire you.
Although I love to travel, I don’t think I would go overseas on my own. I enjoy sharing experiences with my husband (who is also my best friend) rather than on my own.
Yes delightful is a good adjective and fun to say, pronounce, and hear – Jenn is delightful
Aw, thank you!
Thanks for stopping by and it’s awesome you have someone to share adventures with (and more). I’ve learned if I wait for others I’ll miss out.
Happy writing!
