Paying Respect to Gabby Petito During North Port Vigil

#JusticForGabby - Gabby Petito and Butterfly

Like many in the country, I’m captivated by the Gabby Petito case. I live in North Port and her boyfriend’s home is a few miles from my home. I’ve hiked some of the opens in a new windowCarlton Reserve including opens in a new windowMyakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park, the area law enforcement officials are searching for him.

Saturday night, I attended a vigil for Gabby which included a release of 100 live butterflies. I joined hundreds of other North Port residents to pay respect and celebrate life. Local, regional, national, and international media attended and a neighbor asked Brian Laundrie to come forward, stating he’s innocent before proven guilty.

I hope this is over soon so her family can end this horrific chapter.

There’s a LOT of arm-chair quarterbacking with how law enforcement is handling things. Remember, they haven’t shared everything and there’s a logical method for what they’re doing.

Sadly, people go missing everyday and I hope the frenzy over her case sheds light on all those who are missing.
