Travel & Tourism Means Jobs

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, tourism is one of the industries taking a big hit. Why is travel and tourism recognized during this week? Because it’s one of America’s largest industries which means jobs. opens in a new windowNationally, in 2019, the travel and tourism industry directly supported 9 million jobs and 6.8 million in other industries.

Travel & Tourism Creates an Imported Economy for Communities

For states like Florida, tourism is the backbone of the economy. D opens in a new windowuring 2019, the Sunshine State welcomed an estimated 133.67 million visitors, which is a record number. opens in a new windowBased on 2017 figures,opens PDF file out-of-state visitors to Florida added $85.9 billion to the state’s economy and Florida households save about $1,512 a year because of visitor spending.

Nationally, the travel industry generated more than $2.6 trillion in economic output, with $1.1 trillion spent directly by travelers in the United States. Spending by travelers generated $180 billion in tax revenue for state and local governments which funds essential programs and support.

Travel is fun but it is certainly serious business.
