How Will You Stay Healthy During the Holiday Travel Season?

‘Tis the season for running around and new Culturelle Advanced Immune Defense may give that extra boost during this busy and oftentimes stressful time of year. In the past and like clockwork, this time of year I would usually end up getting sick because I didn’t take care of myself. In addition to air travel, I wouldn’t get enough rest, wouldn’t eat properly and didn’t take supplements. I felt drained and run down which meant I had a weakened immune system and more susceptible to getting sick.

I’ve learned to take better care of myself by exercising regularly, eating better including less processed and more whole foods, listening to my body and getting rest when I’m tired, and incorporating supplements into my wellness routine. Before stepping on a plane, I take an immune-boosting supplement, and during the flight, stay hydrated, and stretch and nap when possible.

I recently had a chance to ask Beth Blair, Co-owner of the award winning VacationGals.com, author, and former flight attendant for her tips for staying healthy during holiday travels. Since she’s an expert with air travel, she offers terrific advice for your upcoming travels.

Solo Travel Girl (STG): What tips do you have for travelers flying when they are next to someone who’s coughing and/or sneezing or in other words, obviously sick?

Beth Blair (BB): If a passenger is sitting next to someone sick, it never hurts to ask a flight attendant to relocate to another seat. If moving seats is not an option the best way to protect yourself is to have a tissue ready to cover your face when your seatmate sneezes or coughs.

STG: The holidays can be hectic and immune systems can be compromised, what tips do you have to stay healthy?

BB: Staying healthy goes beyond hand washing. Luckily there are easy steps you can take to stay on top of your immune health:

  • Get enough sleep, it’s imperative since it’s the body’s time to recharge.
  • Stay hydrated and choose whole foods as often as possible, this will keep your body running its best.
  • Incorporate Culturelle Advanced Immune Defense into your wellness routine, it’s a triple-action supplement with probiotics, Vitamin C and zinc, that can help activate your body’s natural defenses.

STG: What are the germiest places in an airport, how should they be avoided and what can travelers do to stay healthy?

BB: There is potential for unwanted microbes to be hiding anywhere hands or fingers touch such as, door handles, locks, elevator buttons and escalators. Using a tissue or napkin to open doors or push buttons can protect anyone whose trying to avoid touching any areas that have the potential to be dirty.

STG: Is it recommended Culturelle Advanced Immune Defense be taken on a daily basis, only seasonally or within the days of and during travel?

BB: Culturelle Advanced Immune Defense is meant to be taken once-a-day in ten day cycles, as needed. To get the most out of its immune boosting formula, I would suggest starting a cycle a few days prior to a trip and continuing through the course of your travels. Rather than suggest it seasonally I would recommend it for anytime of the year when you think you’ll need that extra immune system boost such as before travels, family events, or weddings.

I’ll be trying out Culturelle Advanced Immune Defense in preparation for my upcoming trip to Germany with Viking River Cruises to ensure I have a positive experience. I’ll also be slipping on my new pair of travel compression socks from BrightLife and popping an aspirin for the long haul.

Where will your holiday travels be taking you this year?

Suggested retail price for 10 capsules is $12.99. Find Culturelle Advanced Immune Defense at major food retailers and drug retailers, including Walmart, Target, CVS, Walgreens and Rite-Aid stores nationwide.
