There’s nothing more precious than a kid’s genuine smile. I met amazing people during last month’s trip to Guatemala with Clean the World to distribute recycled used hotel soap and educate people about the importance of hygiene. Although I (still) don’t speak Spanish, I was reminded of the power of a smile in communicating.

As we entered a school in a Guatemala City suburb, kids immediately surrounded me when I pulled out my GoPro HERO3.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have a monitor and didn’t have the WiFi connected to show them on my iPhone how it worked. But, I snapped their photos with my Canon Power Shot then showed them their photos. Their reactions are priceless!

Here’s a video with their reactions. So sweet!

Although the trip was with Clean the World, the in-country host was Children International.
Stay tuned for more on the trip.

  1. Great stuff. I’ll have to check out the organization–I’m still looking for a way to volunteer in Cambodia around my current work schedule. Haven’t had any luck yet.
