I have a love-hate relationship with holiday travel. I love going home or somewhere for the holidays but I can’t stand the long lines through security, not being able to find a place to sit in the waiting area and the inevitable flight delays either caused by mechanical or weather issues. (But I do appreciate flying safe.)

There is a silver lining to next week’s holiday travel, at least for travelers in Houston., the online clothing and shoe retailer, will be turning holiday travel into a cheerful experience on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, TX.

More than 20,000 passengers are expected to travel through IAH, the eighth busiest airport in North America, on Nov. 27, a.k.a., the day before Thanksgiving and one of the busiest travel days of the year. Those picking up luggage at baggage claim will be treated to a festive surprise by the Zappos team. As to exactly what, well, if we knew, then it wouldn’t be a surprise.

“We have a reputation for WOWing our customers at unexpected times, and what better time to surprise them than at the baggage claim after a long flight home,” said Catherine Cook, PR Manager at Zappos. “We’re doing something fun and exciting and while I can’t give too much away, I can tell you that travelers will be going home with more than just their luggage.”

If you will be traveling over the holidays, be sure to pack along your essentials to keep you comfortable and refreshed in the event your flight is delayed. For me, that means an empty water bottle (to fill on the other side of security), facial wipes, lip balm, perfume, mints, and this year, Always Incredibly Thin Daily Liners for that shower-fresh feeling. Always recently sent me the product to try out and have to say the liners are thin and light and tuck away easily in my bag.

Happy travels!
