Yesterday was absolutely Puntalicious! My travel writer friend Lucy Tobias and I had a delicious time in Southwest Florida’s City of Punta Gorda. (Hence, I’m calling it Puntalicious!)

We picked blueberries first thing in the morning at Berry Best Farm (7415 Riverside Dr., Punta Gorda, Tel: 941-286-5475), u-pick is available Saturdays and Sundays now through May…

… munched on fresh beignets and sweet iced coffee from Simply Sweet: A Confectionery Cafe at Fishermen’s Village (1200 W. Retta Esplande #50, Tel: 941-347-7322)…

…and dined on a feast at Peace River Seafood (5337 Duncan Rd., Punta Gorda, Tel: 941-505-8440) where we gobbled up plump shrimp and the meatiest blue crabs I’ve ever had. (I admit to making quite the mess with crabs, too.) The corn was mighty fresh, crispy and sweet. Yum, yum, yum!

The perfect day was capped off in my town of North Port in southern Sarasota County with a swim in Warm Mineral Springs. We followed the crowd and floated in a clockwise position around the perimeter of the springs while listening to the chatter of different languages. I picked up German, French, maybe Russian and others I didn’t recognize.

This natural treasure pumps out more than nine million gallons of water a day filled with 51 minerals at a constant 87 degrees. Many people who visit the spring believe the water has healing properties, I know I feel relaxed and better after spending an hour or two in the waters.

How was your day?
