Day 6 at the Chalk Festival in Sarasota, Fla., Nov. 6, 2011

The opens in a new window Chalk Festival came and went into downtown Sarasota’s Burns Square Nov. 1 – 7, 2011, and in short, it was an amazing feast for the eyes. The week-long event included lectures, gallery shows, performance of “Madame Butterfly,” graffiti and mural art, and demonstrations and classes but I spent my time on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 5 and 6, admiring the colorful 2D and 3D art by incredibly talented artists.

My complaint is there were too many dang people and difficult to get a shot without people or their shadows. Other that, pretty cool.

What happened to the chalk art after the festival? The City of Sarasota requested it be power-washed away and so it was on Monday evening. So sad, but that’s performance art.

Enjoy!
