NASA Tweetup Fashion: Meatball on My Head

NASA Tweetup Fashion: Feather Hair Clip
NASA Tweetup Fashion: Feather Hair Clip

When fashion sense and creativity were being handed out, my sister Liz must have received my portions. She’s incredibly clever, talented, funny and rivals Carrie Bradshaw when it comes to fashion. I commissioned an artist to create jewelry for Obama’s inauguration so being a participant in the upcoming NASA Tweetup, April 28 – 29, for the final launch of space shuttle Endeavour, I knew I’d need something special and exciting to wear.

My sister has been experimenting in using feathers as hair extensions in her salon. If you’ve been watching American Idol, you’ve seen judge and rock star Steven Tyler wearing feather extensions in his flowing mane. No, she didn’t do his but as you can imagine, this trend of feather hair extensions is catching on.

Since my sister lives in Buffalo, N.Y., and I’m in Florida, I’ve been missing out on guinea pig fun. Luckily, she’s started creating fashionable feather hair clips and I asked her to craft something to commemorate the NASA Tweetup. What you see up top is the final result and should be in my hot little hands on Saturday.

I won’t be the only one with fabulous fashion accessories during the Tweetup. Jillian Davis will be styling her space shuttle chic jewelry – yeah, so awesome! Pop on over to her blog, The Musings of Jillie D, to get a look if you won’t be joining us at the Cape. Be sure to take a gander at her Etsy shop, Jillie Beanie, too.

Tweetup participants have been sent detailed instructions about the event including the dress code. I recall reading about long pants, no tank tops and close-toed shoes. I sure hope a hair piece inspired by the NASA meatball is acceptable. Of course, I’m not quite sure how big it is.

Visit my sister’s Etsy shop if you’re in the need for something sassy and fun.

  1. I LOVE it! I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to wear it, unless it’s massive. How fun! I’ll definitely be checking out Liz’s etsy shop. Can’t wait to see it in person 🙂
