Here Comes Company

I realize the primary topic of my blog is solo travel because I’m a single gal and end up traveling solo because if I waited around for someone to do what I want to do, I wouldn’t travel anywhere. This week I’m going on a little girlfriends getaway within the Sunshine State. A friend from high school who’s never been to Florida will be visiting. I asked her what she wanted to do and got the response, “I don’t care, everything’s new.”

*sigh*

I’ve been guessing what someone who’s never been to the state would want to do. She’s easy-going but we have different interests and ideas about vacations. Having worked for the state tourism office I realize this should be easy but my first source was the book 1,000 Places to See in the U.S.A. & Canada Before You Die by Patricia Schultz. Hmm, where does she recommend? Since it’s not possible to experience everything the great state of Florida offers in four days, I narrowed it down to beaches, a water activity, seafood dining, and Disney World.

I’ve scheduled a mix of things I’ve done before along with things I want to do because this is MY vacation, too.

Stay tuned!

I Visited the 9/11 Memorial in New York and This Happened

I didn’t know her but unknowingly standing in front of her name etched in bronze, I was heavy with sadness. Blinking away tears and trying to hide them from my friend, I looked for distractions while he photographed the scenery.
